movie review - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words

As you can probably tell from the title of this movie, it's a sequel and not a particularly good one. It comes several years after the original series, but lacks the most engaging members of the cast and well into the years in which its putative star has descended into self-parody. It features a badder Bad Guy, to be sure, but this only compounds the lack of off-setting charm. This one features a shining gold McGuffin in the Trident of Poseidon and a cameo by the repulsive Paul McCartney. What can I say.
Not recommended. The first one is strongly recommended, especially if you can track down a high-definition version.
