10,000km and what do you get
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I dropped by Cycle Solutions on Kingston Road to have my rear wheel looked at; they shocked me with the news it was finished. First, they told me I'd have my ride back by Tuesday. But within four hours Mike had worked his magic, and I was back in business for a bone-chilling ride down the hill.
But they handed my green machine back with the warning that that wheel was done, and not to ride another winter on it. I was surprised and dismayed (that would be a $200 expense) but then I realized I'd put at least 10,000km – and quite possibly 12,000km or more – on the beast in the past three years.
It might be time to make my beater serviceable again!
