twenty-seven years and one million words

Out for a spin today, I had the misfortune of being in a "sharrow" with a driver staring at his cell phone. He came through close enough to me that I'd had to shift into the turning lane to my right, which was thankfully empty. When I caught up to him at the light (where he was stopped on top of the "sharrow" paint mark), it took me three "Hellos" before I could divert his attention from the phone. I pointed out that it was a shared lane, and that he'd cut it short, and he shrugged.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
