welcome, summer of '17

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2017.06.21

Ye gods, summer is finally here – albeit with a high of only 21C today. I celebrated by getting incredibly sweaty barrelling down the ravine at Mud Creek (also; muddy). A few thousand people celebrated by turning out at the beach. One young lady on Queen Street in the Beaches celebrated by walking the strip in body paint instead of a shirt. To each, his own.

Three reasons to be thankful:

  1. Summer is here.
  2. It's cool enough to enjoy cycling.
  3. The cool weather is keeping the insects in check, so far.

rand()m quote

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.

—George Bernard Shaw
