movie review - Lego Batman Movie

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2017.05.21

I don't know if this movie was strictly necessary, they covered Lego Batman in sufficient depth in the Lego Movie itself. But here we go.

This is Lego Batman's story, but there's not much story. The Joker is back, but he spends all the time fawning over and seeking the attention of Batman, who in turn is a pathetic narcissistic wreck. There's nowhere near enough meat on this thing for a feature-length movie. They flesh it out with Lego-brick-explosions but there's not a thing memorable to this. As I say, unnecessary.

Not recommended.
