vice president of a non-profit board

twenty-seven years and one million words
Last night I was nominated to be the Vice President of the board of Cycle Toronto.
With six of the thirteen members of the board new, it puts me right in the middle of the board's experience (with a whopping one year). I've been fretting (a professional hazard of the risk manager) about the transition with that much turnover. But it all certainly started well – it was a pleasure meeting the six new members, and hearing new ideas and governance questions.
But about my duties. I'll be assisting the President with duties surrounding the interaction between board and staff. The person who nominated me was the person I nominated to stand for the board at last month's AGM - I wonder if he did it in thanks or for retribution.
