damaged bike chain
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I don't know how I did it, but I managed to bend two links in my bike chain. The mechanic thinks that the arm on the front derailleur is too short for constant up and down shifting of city traffic. He thinks the chain got caught between the derailleur and the chain ring, somehow. I'm taking his word for it and paying $136 in parts and labor to get it fixed.
It never rains but it pours. When making this year's photo book, one of the hard drives that holds all my digital photos in an external bay suddenly started screaming, announcing its impending death. That'll be another couple of hundred bucks. But that's small change compared to the $7,200 estimate I saw recently from the dentist.
Ahhh!
