movie review - 99 Homes
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
This is a gripping story about a man who is evicted from his house during the Great Financial Crisis, but through a series of events winds up working for the crooks that had him evicted. The plot details the man's trajectory from there, as the dollars start pouring in but the outcomes for everyone involved become worse. It all takes place in Florida, so you know it's a white-knuckle affair from the outset.
The acting carries out a superb plot. The film features an actor I last saw starring in one of the super-hero movies, and a major supporting character from another former super-hero flick, doing much, much more interesting work. truly a great supporting cast in this all around, playing well-executed characters exchanging realistic and authentic dialog. Very engrossing.
Strongly recommended.
