a boreal owl

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2016.06.20

We've been hearing owl calls in the night for some weeks now, I think I've identified the species. It's the boreal owl, usually found in northern Ontario but recently driven south by the weather and changes in the rodent populations of the north.

Here's a sample of the sound. (Excuse the microphone handling noises and chatter.)

rand()m quote

I'm pleased and happy to repeat the news that we have, in fact, caught and killed a large predator that supposedly injured some bathers. But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, the beaches are open and people are having a wonderful time.
