helping a fellow cyclist in need

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2015.07.24

By happy chance I had my usual bike repair kit with me yesterday when I pulled up next to someone who was replacing a flat tube. He'd had one of those compressed air canisters, but it failed. He got on his way again with my pump.

It's a little thing, but a rare chance to help someone out. Especially since it happened about 1.5 blocks from where I fell on Adelaide last month.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
