Tonight I met a friend over Ethiopian food; it was the first time for both of (combined age, 84). Verdict; tricky, but delicious.
During our dinner, we discussed the ongoing mystery of the way that our economy and society seem to function despite the financial underpinnings and our use of resources (the two are strictly self-reinforcing) are total bullshit.
Which, incidentally, is summed up nicely in an article I've found:
"In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one’s work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it."
