getting some sleep

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2015.01.28

Emma woke twice last night, and I slept through both events; it's the dawn of a new age. The trick is that she's not screaming for our assistance. She'll wake, cry a bit, then settle herself down.

Which is good, because the family's been struggling with the titanic sleep loss.

One side effect of being granted some sleep: I'm suddenly exhausted and struggling not to fall asleep at any time. I guess my body's been running on empty for quite some time.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
