some home-made fishing lures

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2015.11.07

The Boy and I have been making wooden fishing lures, and rebuilding some old ones. The old ones came out of the heaps of junk at the cottage. One man's collector's item is another man's opportunity to put googly eyes on something!

I've been learning to paint epoxy on the things. Something I wouldn't have thought necessary, but apparently pike and other sharp-toothed fish just bite right through varnish and damage the lure.

rand()m quote

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little -- a movie song here or a TV ad there.
