feeling thankful

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tonight I met with a friend whose daughter is recovering from a serious concussion. She's doing well, but it's been a long haul and the girl's certainly not out of the woods by any means.

Three reasons to be thankful:

1. Everyone at home is happy and whole
2. 2014 was on the whole eventful but not as chaotic and disruptive as other '4 years have been (e.g. death, betrayal, and job loss in '94; job loss and a catastrophe on the home front in '04) - there's nothing to numerical voodoo but it was nice to "break the curse"
3. I may not know what I'm doing, but it's going well
