twenty-seven years and one million words
I've been using an MBNA mastercard for quite some time, but they've decided they don't want me anymore. The problem is one of support. Until September, when they embarked on a badly-run amalgamation with the TD mothership, the support I got on this card was the best I'd ever seen. Which is fitting for a service that I use daily, to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a year. But after September, everything changed. I can no longer log into their online banking, and I can no longer get through to anyone on the phone.
It doesn't matter that I want them to switch us to a different type of card. After days of trying, I finally got through and learned that they "couldn't do that right now, could I try again in a month?"
It also doesn't matter that my wife's credit card isn't working any more. Since that problem occurred, neither of us have been able to speak to anybody at MBNA at all.
It's been two and a half months. Even someone as thick-skulled as me knows when someone doesn't want him around anymore.
I've applied for a card with a different provider. They'll be getting my business as long as their online banking or their phone support work. Which really isn't much to ask.
