cycling light with a backpack.

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.10.31

I've decided to forgo my pannier and rack, for a while, in favor of a water-proof backpack. My nice, light, new bike doesn't deserve all that ungainly weight at the back!

Curiously, the lift bridge on Cherry street was up for a third time this week. That's still only three times in the 20 years since I first moved here, but the charm is beginning to wear off.

Happy Hallowe'en! I'm going to be the man in the yellow hat to The Girl's "Curious George".

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
