give the cyclist a door prize!

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2014.06.13

I got doored by someone emerging from a taxi, today; I pulled out of it but it's still dangerous and annoying. I was on Queen Street, trying to cross the very center of the city, so I wasn't really surprised. In fact, I saw it coming in the sudden way the taxi jerked to the curb; he wasn't looking and his fare was in a hurry. I managed to stop without colliding, but I wasn't entirely able to stop my self from bellowing at the witless passenger.

Three good things that happened today:

  1. Dodged a collision with a car door
  2. Picked up a roll of film with some nice pics
  3. Had a nice 20km trip with beautiful weather

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
