progress on my dissertation

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2014.05.24

I've made quite a bit of headway with my dissertation, in part by taking a week off of work to throw myself at the thing. I've assembled what I think is a strong literature review, I've put together a cogent case study, and while some of the analysis on the survey needs work, I've know the extent of that work as well. The work's now got direct quotes from authors I cite (one of the best bits about doing this kind of work is connecting with such people), it's got graphs n' so on, it has the requisite index of tables and references liberally sprinkled throughout.

It also generally speaking seems to hang together well and seems to read well enough. That hasn't stopped me contacting an editor I've worked with in the past, however.

I'm enjoying all of this, for sure.

rand()m quote

On the endless saga of Rob Ford, mayor of Toronto; "It shouldn't have had to come to this. I'm so tired of getting up every morning and wondering, 'What will it be today?' I'm so tired of giving the benefit of the doubt again and again, only to be let down again and again.... Somewhere a responsible adult has to appear, draw a bright moral line, tell the truth and say unequivocally what won't be tolerated. Somebody has to do the right thing."
