cycling in dress socks

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.04.28

I was so out of it this morning I cycled to work in a pair of dress socks - it must be Monday. But, today was better than yesterday, which I spent in bed with a day-long migraine. Again. That's twice in three weekends, where the usual rate might be twice in a six month period.

But the day got better.

Three good things that happened today:

  1. I found an interesting way of conveying some of the results of my dissertation studies.
  2. I wrote an interesting blog post about it (forthcoming).
  3. I got my tax return in on time (we take our small victories where we can get them).

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
