easter eggs for a toddler

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.04.20

It was The Girl's first Easter egg hunt with her brother, and she was lucky: her brother was a real sweetheart about sharing. Six year old The Boy was the first to spot the eggs and other treats, of course, but he'd take his little sister by the hand and point them out. When she didn't launch herself at them, he'd help her rather than scramble after everything himself the way you see nowadays. It was downright spooky. And lots of fun.

One small hiccup: a squirrel or crow had gotten to the yard before the kids, and one plastic egg full of chocolate-covered almonds was broken-into. No matter, the kids still had a ball.
