five minutes or forty, TTC

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2014.01.24

The TTC is under the delusion that street cars come to my stop in the Beaches on a roughly five minute schedule. Not sure what happened this morning as we stand around in -15°C weather, but I was out there until nearly nine when I gave up, paid a $5 surcharge (on top of my metropass) and took the express bus. It wasn't even the first express bus (which come every twenty minutes) but those two buses were the only thing that came along. Brr!

In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one's work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it.
