At a BBQ, I learned that I'm not the only one who shows his kids the fan edited versions of Star Wars. It looks like anyone with the resources to find the fan edits prefers them (no wonder). I know I don't want to spend 3 hours dragging myself through pointless pod races and excruciating love story dialogue, and I guess I'm not alone.
I used to think "has it really come to this", but then I learned that Lucas used to make a habit of sending other film makers his own thoughts on their movies by giving them his edits of his films. I'm not sure how that went down with those movie-makers, but now everything's fair game.
