dissertation's first part complete

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2013.12.13

I've submitted the proposal and research methodologies portion of my dissertation. 20% of the course's projected load is already done. I took three days off this week to work on it, and put in a total of about 35 hours in the past five days. I'm pleased with what I'm doing. The title is "How can implementing risk management improve service delivery and define competitive advantage for service organizations that provide technology solutions and services to regulated industries?"

Three good things that happened today:

  1. Survived my cycle commute in well sub-zero temperatures
  2. Had a lunch with coworkers in which we assigned roles from "Rocky Horror Picture Show" to the personnel in the office. I was deemed Frank-n-furter, somehow.
  3. Got that dissertation portion in. Whew!

rand()m quote

If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
