twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2013.12.02

This weekend Ken and I had fun stuffing information pamphlets into mailboxes on a short one-way street in our neighbourhood this weekend. They're explaining the case for a "contra-flow" bicycle lane on that street that would enable entry from the main arterial roads into our neighbourhood. One resident came along as Ken was dropping off the pamphlet into her mailbox, and she agreed that it would be a welcome development. Let's hope that non-statistical sample is representative.

I'm doing this for a host of reasons:

1. We need that lane to get to where we live.

2. I'd like to demonstrate to Ken that these things are possible.

3. I think it's becoming more important that citizens become active. Lord knows the city's actual government has some debilitating problems.

I just wish that people would realize that anything's possible if you try. Dreams are made if people try.
