ball chairs

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2013.02.15

We used to have ball chairs in the apartment in Tokyo (in fact we had only two real chairs, and one was a highchair for our then-little firstborn. Someone asked me about them today, and I had to think about why we stopped using them.

Then I remembered: our later not-quite-so-little firtsborn thought that they were such great fun it was becoming difficult to actually get any sitting time on the things.

rand()m quote

In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one's work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it.
