So it turns out that when we were in Takachiho last week, we might well have been served "Japanese giant hornet" (as food that is, not as a means of assassination). How close was it? On the TV show that we watched today (over dinner, no less) the fellow from our hotel was speaking with the journalists.

And here I thought that the fish eyeballs I've been eating were adventurous.
