a new favourite place in the neighbourhood
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
There was a deep frost last night, which kept the sleeping room damn cold last night. But it was followed by strong sunshine, and to me that suggested a great opportunity to photograph frost. So I was out the door before all but Mari's two parents were up for the day, and hapiply I found a new favourite spot in the area. Up a dead-end laneway's ascent of a side-valley, I found a man-made pond penned in by a retaining wall. The light was pouring through the trees beyond onto the pond where wisps of steam rose in the still of the dawn.
I talked about it with Ken when I got back, and he agreed to go with me tomorrow for another look, if the weather permits.
