sunrise over the new year

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Nichinan, Kyushu, 2013.01.01

In the pre-dawn gloom this morning, we all piled into the cars to travel to the coast to observe the first sun rise of the new year. We weren't alone, it seemed that half of Nichinan had had the same idea. Unfortunately the weather had other plans, and as there became sufficient light to see, the view was obstructed by a low cloud deck. As Ken put it when describing it to his Opa via Skype, "at first we couldn't see anything; then there was nothing to see."

rand()m quote

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.

—George Bernard Shaw
