twenty-seven years and one million words

I'm looking at buy another used Minolta film camera body. I've already got five but only one is really operational. The SRT-101, which is older than I am, hasn't worked since the early 90's (and is now my son's). My old (c. 1996) X-700, the "dropped camera", has an unfixable light leak. Both of my beloved XD bodies have wonky meters (I've read that that body's electronics aren't known to age well, and I've had both looked at over the years).

That leaves me with the new (e.g. used, bought for me in '06) X-700. So I'm thinking another X-700 or maybe an X-570 for a change. I'd really love to go after one of the digital mirrorless bodies, but looking at my photographic output in terms of frames shot I see that it's not the right thing to do right now. here are the numbers against the year:

frames shot per year

You can see there's been a bit of a change of pace, what with the second child and my ongoing studies. Given that I want to start an MBA next year, I don't expect this to change at any time over what would be the useful lifetime of a new digital body. So I guess I won't be going that route.
