dear diamond taxi of Toronto
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
As I was cycling to work today I passed one of your taxis, which was stopped at the curb in the right lane on Queen Street east in the Leslieville area. I rang my bell continuously as I passed the taxi but after I had passed it the driver accelerated to speed past me although I had already signaled that I was pulling back in. A few blocks later I came upon the taxi again and noted the license number (BJFL-208) and the driver's name, which was visible through the window: the first name was Mohammad. The last name was too long to memorize but ended in 'Z'.
I strongly resent the driver's senseless disregard for my safety and hope that this doesn't represent your company's standards.
Good day.
