OK fine, maybe I'll dabble in an MBA

I've decided that once I'm done with this CIA program I'll knock of the certifications do the MBA program with Heriot-Watt in the UK (distance learning). No networking, no brand recognition, none of the ephemera—it'll just be about what I can teach myself.
I've got a waiver on one of the eleven courses (the one on project management, due to my possession of a PMP designation), reducing the course load to ten (plus a £150 fee to process the exception). As I can start the classes in any order, I'll start with the Accounting and "Corporate governance" classes. These are the most relevant to the audit-related career path I'm considering, and will with the waived PM course allow me to pause after a year collecting a "Post graduate certificate in Business Management" if I find the work too tough w/ the kids or if the program's not satisfactory or if the world economy "does another 2008". None of the other programs offer anything like this sort of flexibility, and all charge a multiple of this program's fees.
Happily, the school grants Canadian T2022A tax receipts, so I can write off something of the expense. I've also spoken with Canadian graduates of the program, they all endorse it.
So it's low risk, relatively lowish cost, I have a one-year "out", and I should learn something useful. All in, it's $15k (paid in installments) and five years of my life. Hopefully starting this Winter.
