a day of study

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2012.09.15

I've now officially signed up for the CIA course, the die is cast, I'm paid up.

I spent the first half of the day studying, wading through the pre-amble units. It looks like it's going to be an interesting course, certainly more in line with what I do than the PMP (which I hope works in my favour). I'm also learning things about governance that will be directly applicable in the business I'm working for. Stuff like how a Board of Directors works with the management team and any external auditors that may be reviewing the organization's control environment.

Gabate!

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
