finally bought a bike

I bought a bike today for about half the price of bringing my "old" bike from Japan.
That option would have cost ¥900 plus $250 in duty, for a total of $1400. Which is about what I paid for that bike four or five years ago (and subsequently earned back in seven months of commuting in Tokyo). Curiously, even after buying a bike today I'm still in the black against the TTC fares I've saved since I started cycling in March of last year. Calculating the costs against car ownership, I'm at least $25,000 in the black. But seriously .. who buys a car in Toronto.
Money aside, I stuck with steel and bought the KHS model I've been looking at. No aluminum, no disc brakes with "hydraulic" tubes, no fancy internal gear hubs, just some 35mm tires and something that the thieves won't want too much.
