movie review - Date Night

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.05.22

A bored couple living in New Jersey head to Manhattan for a night on the town in an effort to save their stale marriage. They wind up involved in potentially fatal intrigue involving crooked cops, a missing flash drive full of blackmail material, and the mob. This thing has a surprisingly made-for-TV production quality about it at times, but I found it adds to vibe that this suburban couple is in over the heads.

I found it entertaining. Steve Carell and Tina Fey have a lot of charisma, and are supported by a great cast. The story hangs together unusually well for a rom-com-turned-intrigue.

Recommended.
