another sign of aging

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2012.05.04

Today I had another sign that I'm getting old—our doctor doesn't remember the cold war. I made a remark that our child was born on "International Workers' Day", which we celebrated in honour of communism. She looked at me blankly, and I said, "Ah, nevermind, it's a Cold War thing." She muttered something about having been eight years old.

rand()m quote

A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.

—Antoine de Saint-Exupery
