movie review - Midnight in Paris

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.04.15

We got about fifteen minutes into this when I realized that I hated everybody in it. I looked up the director and realized that it was Woody Allen. This told me that it would remain indulgent and awful. We watched something else.

It's not often that I'm put off to a point that I won't bother with a movie.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.

—John Steinbeck, Cannery Row
