movie review - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2011.08.09

A friend gave me his Harry Potter movies to watch. They're about a young boy who returns for a second year at his school of wizardry and spends a lot of time going through all the same stuff. Watch him buy a wand! Watch him run into shitty classmates... There's a magic flying car now because only plebs use the train I guess?

The acting is marginally better this time because the kids are not small children. Or not as small. But it looks like slavery is presented as normal and that the "good guys" all have repulsive slave elves. WTF?

Anyway, it all boils down to an extremely unlikely showdown where an eleven-year-old kills a giant "basilisk" with a sword, and then guesses that he has to also destroy a book because .. swords and scorcery?

Not recommended. But I have still more to watch...

Capitalist production, therefore, only develops the techniques and the degree of combination of the social process of production by simultaneously undermining the original sources of all wealth – the soil and the worker.
