a new abscess
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I've now got a new skin abscess on the go. These things are getting to be old hat; this is my fourth.
I spent about eighty minutes in the hospital tonight after work, going through the usual motions of having needles inserted on an exploratory basis, then a prescription and instructions to use a heat compress. The nurse practitioner I worked with was very competent and moreover seemed on the whole a little less .. harassed than Doctors sometimes seem to get in hospitals. I'd never heard of a "Nurse Practitioner" before, but it seems to be a pretty good idea.
I'd been routed through emergency, which was buckling down for a busy weekend because it's Carrabana. Really wish my wife's trip to Japan hadn't wiped out two of the most interesting events in the Toronto calendar, but there's always next year I suppose.
