who is that boy

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2011.07.19

As I was heading out the door this morning my wife called for the first time since they've been gone.

We got on Skype, and I was amazed to see that the boy looked .. taller! Shortly before he left, I measured him at 101.4 cm tall, I can only wonder where he'll be at the end of the year. 105? 108?

Kenny was pretty tired because it was already bed time when they called, but he excitedly told me about the various things that he'd seen and done. Happily, he can still speak English.

In a strange coincidence, Mari spotted some friends of ours in the in-flight magazine on the trip down to Miyazaki. The article was about Spain, and right there were two children who were friends of Kenny before the 2008 economic readjustment/super-accumulation caused us to go our separate ways. She managed to get some free copies of the magazine to take with her, and she'll mail a copy to our friends in Spain.

rand()m quote

My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there.
