community bulletin board

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2011.06.09

In response to a couple of recent incidents, I'm putting together a forum for people in "The Beaches"; a place for communication, basically.

I'm hoping that the thing will be of some use. I got the idea when word went 'round by email of a potential predator in the neighbourhood possibly following some pre-teen girls on a nearby street. In, of course, a van. It turned out that the police had a very different view on what was going on. But word of that didn't get 'round 'til a week later. So I figure that there's room for an advisory service of some kind at a very minimum. But it also seems to me that a bulletin board site could help serve as an area to arrange swaps (e.g. of old kids clothing), and to broadcast news of events, and to help people with referrals for businesses....

Next would be a wiki with information about the neighbourhood, its shops, its history..... Maybe I can branch out and do the same for other neighbourhoods next. I just need a domain name and I'm ready to start with a small set of forums.

rand()m quote

If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.
