cold hands, warm heart

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2011.04.18

Somehow, the day has gotten much colder as it's gone on, and I'm now facing a chilly ride home indeed.

One light fleece against snow on an east wind. It's been a long cool Spring, this first season of Mari and Kenny living in Canada. I hope they can tolerate snowfall in a time of year they'd normally be enjoying hanami and sunshine. Mari says that she was pleased with the Canadians she met on the weekend. When she thanked them for coming to our fundraiser, they frequently thanked Mari for participating in the fundraiser, and often told her, "This is good for the kids."

One of the other Japanese mums agreed. She said, "There's a big difference between Toronto and Los Angeles. In LA we'd organize a fundraiser and people would be enthusiastic and agree to help; then they wouldn't come. In Toronto, people didn't say much when we mentioned the fundraiser but many of them came to the event and several brought things to support us."

Maybe it'll work out despite the incessant cold.

P.S. Wow, I'm at over 1000+ "tweets", mostly fed from this journal.
