traffic in a windy city
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
It took us two hours to get to my mum's place from our place, tonight. It's only about 100km.
The problem: two traffic accidents on the QEW west-bound out of Toronto. We probably would have done better to abandon the highway and take the Lakeshore road as far as the Burlington bridge*. Road conditions were excellent so I'm not sure why they occurred, but I do note that it was a full moon.
*On the bridge, the winds were insane. The Corolla I'd rented was being tossed around very badly. It was nerve-wracking.
I dislike driving at the best of times, and this all came as an unneeded hassle at the end of what had been a difficult week. But all's well that ends well and two hours or no, we made it in one piece.
