wondermark

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2011.01.10

For quite some time, I've been reading this brilliant web comics called Wondermark. It's among the best of what's out there.

Then I came across episode 675, and envisioned my own ending that I think works better. The fellow who memorizes wikipedia doesn't need a line in the last panel. He just needs to stand there seeing the lune off. It's like that reworking of Garfield that came out a few years ago, where the eternal Garfield strip was made readable by removing the text from one or more frames. Only, in this case the original is still amazing and not dreck.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
