X'mas in January

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

St. Catharines, 2011.01.08

We had a special X'mas celebration for Kenny today.

He was bombarded with toys, of course. He's now got enough toy trains for three kids. And he's got a variety of fun things that his creative circle of well-wishers dreamed up. Including a gaggle of Potato Heads, a mat with a driving scene on it for his toy cars, a clever "laptop" book-game based on Sesame Street characters that literally teaches the ABC's (and 123's). Quite a fine haul!

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
