twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2010.11.26

Gloomy, this morning. A low cloud cover and a strong wind from the north-west. No surprise that it started to snow.

I couldn't contact my family again this morning, no word of explanation from Japan. I did a bit of accounting work for our soon-to-be-defunct business and noticed that I had to bolt out the door. Somehow I left without either the key for the house in Oakville or the key for the door at the office. The three hours I'm spending in commute every day are starting to wear, I think.

For a long time I was very bitter that the people who controlled the means of anybody ever hearing my songs were never gonna play them. They only favored music that I specifically and particularly hated, and I wanted them dead. Suddenly, there was another avenue. I started hearing my stuff coming out of bars and then it started to happen little by little -- a movie song here or a TV ad there.
