a home-cooked meal

Jon's brother Martin and his family have been "stranded" in Tokyo since the volcano's eruption in Iceland.
They're happy to be here, but they'd not had a home-cooked meal since arriving early in the month. Mari suggested that they come over for dinner, today, and prepared several fine dishes. Everyone seemed to have a fine time, and Jon reported that the small gifts Mari picked up (she thinks of everything) were a hit.
Three good things that happened today:
1. Good friends
2. Good food
3. Happy kids making lots of noise
