no man's land

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2010.01.23

Today we went to "No man's land", an art studio/gallery that's been built into the recently vacated former French embassy in Hiroo.

I understand that the building's going to be turned into condos (at last, a condo development project in Tokyo!!) but in the mean time it's interesting. Here are some of my pics of the place.

It was fun to see some of the interesting things that are going on. There was one exhibit by a photographer named Mayumi Terada, who only does black and white images, that was particularly excellent.

Work is about a daily search for meaning as well as daily bread; for recognition as well as cash; for astonishment rather than torpor; in short for a sort of life, rather than a monday-to-friday sort of dying.
