a bit young for shaving

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2009.12.03

The other night I was out for dinner with friends/business partners and Mari was taking care of The Boy solo. He started to shave.

They were in the bathroom getting ready for bed when The Boy picked up my electric beard trimmer, said "Daddy" and began to drag the business-end of the shaver over his face. According to Mari, he even turned his face this way and that, and made the funny faces a man makes while shaving: scrunching the face to the left or right; elongating the jaw; and so on.

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.
