curry day

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2009.10.04

We went to the park this morning for a curry cook-oy being hosted by the daycare mother's group. It was good fun, especially for Mari who got to talk at length with the teachers and other parents.

Kenny had fun running around and finding new ways of turning shirts brown. His favourite was the traditional face-down tumble onto the dirt, it turns out. That and sliding face-first down a slide that's been clambered over by dozens if not hundreds of shoed children.

The curry was really quite good, too, though Japanese curry is not my favourite form of the dish. Happily, the weather cooperated completely.

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
