the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2009.09.29

I've now got quite a range of items winging their way to me from overseas. It looks like the Internet is really starting to deliver on the promise of international commerce.

At long last I've found a shoe company that not only sells shoes to suit my 16EE/34cm feet, but they'll ship to Japan! I realize that buying shoes unseen is a bit of a gamble but I'm buying from brands I've tried before so I figure the risk is acceptable.

Then there are the books. They're photo-books, made via blurb.com and the service available with the OSX tool iPhoto (it comes with the Mac computer I bought). The Apple service is, of course, expensive, but I've heard good things about the quality of the books and am really looking forward to it.

I'm also looking forward to earning the same reputation for high quality with our online jewelry shop. When it comes to risk, we have a much more robust plan than the shoe shop's got—we're going to offer a one month return policy.
